About us

How Seven Twenty One began, and who’s behind it.

Seven Twenty One Ministries was born from years of walking alongside families affected by special needs — and seeing how hard it is to get to church when there’s nowhere safe for your loved one to be.

Why it matters

Worship without worry.

One in three special-needs families will either give up on attending church or never try in the first place. Many try to watch a service from home, but with the distractions of caregiving it’s nearly impossible to focus. The isolation takes a real toll — on marriages, on mental health, on any sense of community.

Our heart is to give these families a break. To let a parent sit back, relax, breathe, and soak in God’s presence for the first time in a long time — without keeping a phone close by, without hoping to make it through the service, knowing their loved one is loved, safe, and celebrated.

A place where families can worship without worry — and know that their special-needs loved one is loved, safe, and celebrated.

Where the name came from

The number that wouldn’t leave.

There was a season when Angela started seeing the numbers 7-2-1 everywhere. The first time, she glanced at the clock and it read 7:21 — and she thought of it as God’s kiss on the cheek, because 7-21-81 is her birthday.

Then it kept happening. Seven minutes and twenty-one seconds left in a ballgame. 7.21 miles to the destination on her husband’s GPS. The number 721 on the bottom of a pair of rented bowling shoes. 7:21 on the microwave. For months, she started taking pictures every time she noticed it.

Finally I started looking up scriptures with these numbers, and I came across Luke 7:21. Angela Johnson, founder

In that passage, Jesus is casting out what torments people and bringing healing and restoration to those who need it. She knew, in that moment, that this ministry would be exactly that — a place that brings healing and restoration to families who are desperately seeking help, needing a break, longing to worship like any other family.

The founder

4 years in the sensory room.

Angela Johnson has served as a special-needs coordinator for 4 years. In that time, the sensory room she leads has grown from 4 children a week to 64 children who have rotated through its doors — some every week, some once a month, some every few months, all of them known by name.

Seven Twenty One is the next step of that same calling: a dedicated place, open during church hours, built for every age and every need.
